A busy weekend

Now I'm thinking about the things that happened in my life in the last weeks. I've been working in a lot of competitions of athletics, ice hockey and waterpolo, but maybe the last weekend has been one of the busiests of my whole life.

First of all, on saturday morning I had to introduce a waterpolo game for a TV broadcast. After that, I had a birthday's lunch with some friends and in the evening I had to take pictures and send the news of the final of the Spanish Ice Hockey League: FC Barcelona vs GC Puigcerdà. It was a very exciting game where Puigcerdà got a two goals advantage in less than two minutes (0-2), and Barça had to regain and in the second period they were leading the game 3-2. Finally, FC Barcelona won the game 5-2 and also its third League cup of the club's history.

After the game and the celebrations in the ice rink, I had to come back home, download the 1.500 photos, write the news and send them. I think I was sleeping about 3:00 AM. But just three hours later my alarm clock was ringing. I had to wake up hurrying because I had to go to the other side of the city to catch a train destination Zaragoza at 7:00.

I arrived to Sants' station with less than ten minutes before the departure of the train... But I was inside it with destination to the Aragon's capital. One hour and a half later I was in Zaragoza, and I reached the athletics track in less than 30 minutes. There I worked, for second year in a row, announcing the "Carrera del Ebro".

I think it's the most special race I've never worked for. It's organized by Anuesport, one sports association that works for UNESCO with athletics projects in some of the poorest countries in the world: Kenya, Ethiopia, Liban. The organization is completed by one military regiment, each year by one different, and this year was done by "Pavia IV". Then, all the staff is made up by the millitary. For me is a real shocking situation, because when you are talking to two or three persons at the same time, all them are equals for you. But between them, they have to respect theirs rank because they are on duty.

On that morning I had the honour to be with Abel Anton, one of the most important athletes of the Spanish history. This Sorian had won the marathon event in two World Championships: Athens 1997 and Seville 1999 and nowadays is working for Extrands, an internet site to share trainings with people from the whole world of athletics, cycling, triatlon... I met Abel just one year ago, when he was training some popular athletes to get a good mark in Barcelona Marathon, and I had the opportunity to interview him several times in some running events and for an athletics magazine called "Marathon Catalunya".

After the race, I went with my friend Irene to eat a wonderful sandwich in the Zaragoza's beach, one plain of grass beside the Ebro river, that -as the typical song says- "keeps in silence when passes the Pilar". For me, that was the best way to rest of that buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusy weekend.
